Texas Department of Public (TXDPS)
- Safety Crash Records Information System (CRIS) Project
The Crash Records Information System (CRIS) Project was a joint
initiative of the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) and
the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to implement a
new Crash Records Information System that will capture, manage
and deliver timely and accurate data crash data to improve the
safety of Texas Roadways.
Allied partnered with IBM and Texas GovLink
to develop and implement the CRIS. The system was developed using
Java, .NET, DB2, MicroStrategy and a commercial off the shelve
(COTS) solution for the capture, storage and reporting of crash
data.
Allied supported the development of the technology architecture
and the creation of test scripts to validate the design of the
CRIS development. Allied also participated in the development
of the course curriculum and the delivery of training. The system
went live in January 2005, and ACI has since assisted the completion
of report development and supported various post-production activities.
University of Texas Health Science Center - San Antonio, Texas
The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio (UTHSC-SA) has four primary missions: education, research, patient care and community service. With almost 5,000 full and part time employees, UTHSC-SA provides education and training to 2,700 students in one of the five schools:
- Dental School
- Medical School
- School of Allied Health Sciences
- School of Nursing
- Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences
With a budget of approximately $300 million per year, UTHSC-SA placed considerable importance in the need to have a comprehensive ERP solution to support their current operation and plans for future growth. In late 1999, UTHSC-SA selected Allied Consultants, Inc. (ACI) to assist it in the full implementation of the PeopleSoft Financials, Human Resource Management and Student Administration system applications. This multi-year, multi-million dollar initiative was a successful partnership of the functional and technical staff from UTHSC-SA and a team of ERP consultants from ACI.
ACI managed the project, which involved the concurrent development of the PeopleSoft 7.5 Financials and HRMS modules, followed by the implementation of the PeopleSoft 8 Student Administration application. In addition to managing the project, ACI provided functional and technical resources for the Financials, HRMS and Student Administration. The HRMS project first phase was completed in December 2000 with the highlight being the implementation of the payroll module. In June 2001 the full Benefits Administration module was implemented and sustainment of the system was successfully turned over to UTHSC-SA shortly thereafter. The Financials project likewise was divided into two phases. The first phase was implemented in September 2001 and involved a joint team of analysts from UTHSC-SA and ACI. The modules implemented were Projects/Grants and Budget. The second phase was completed in September 2002 with the implementation of Accounts Payable/Purchasing, Inventory, Assessment Management, Accounts Receivables and Billing.
The Student Administration project kicked off in May 2002 when ACI worked with UTHSC-SA staff to perform fit/gap analysis activities. Working with a team of UTHSC-SA Student Administration functional analysts, ACI identified the functionality to be implemented, and then participated in the installation activities. The system was fully productional in 2004, and knowledge transfer to UTHSC-SA staff was completed within 2 months after go-live.
